About the Author
Beverly Varnado, an award-winning author and screenwriter, is also a blogger and artist who creates to give others hope in the redemptive purposes of God.
In Search of the Painted Bunting, her most recent book and a middle grade historical reached #1 bestseller in its category on Amazon its debut week. She has also written a small-town romance series set in the charming town of Worthville, Georgia, which includes a Christmas novella, A Season for Everything. Her previous writings include a nonfiction memoir as well as several other novels and screenplays, one of which was a finalist for the prestigious Kairos Prize in Screenwriting. A dozen anthologies have included her work, in addition to periodicals and online sites including the Upper Room Magazine and Christian Devotions.US. World Radio featured a piece about her family’s seven-thousand-mile summer road trip. Her blog, One Ringing Bell, offering peals of words on faith, living, writing, and art has 1,000 posts in its archives.
In addition to speaking at civic clubs, churches, and book clubs across Georgia, her volunteer efforts have included twelve years teaching and leading worship in maximum-security prisons for women, President of the North Georgia
Conference United Methodist Church Clergy Spouses, Lay Witness Mission Movement participant, University of Georgia Wesley Foundation board member, and vocalist in the Athens Symphony Chorus.
Conferences and writer’s events where Beverly has spoken include: The Harriet Austin Writer’s Conference, East Metro Atlanta Christian Writer’s, and an American Christian Fiction Writers’ chapter.
As an artist, she has exhibited at a State University gallery, and she is always working on a new painting. She has a degree in art education and home schooled her children for eight years. A lifelong musician, worship leader, and songwriter, she also sings with the Athens Symphony Chorus. She lives in North Georgia with her husband, Jerry, and is Mom to three and Mimi to two.
